Dear Dr.
Hall,
I want to start off by
saying that I really enjoyed your class. I thought that it was going to kill me at times, but in the end it was worth it.
I wound up with a few pieces of writing that I feel truly reflect my thoughts and abilities. I just need to find someone to
share them with now! I sent the “Hypertext Technology and the Changing Face of Writing Pedagogy” paper to Nancy
Patterson herself to see what she thinks about it. Having her respond would be like getting an autograph from some famous
movie star to me. I was floored by her work. I am curious to see what she might think about mine. I have never written anything
that I wanted to share so badly, but this semester I put so much work and heart into each assignment that I want to make a
billboard out of it (of course at the lengths that some of my papers reached, one would have to drive across the country just
to finish reading it all!)
I truly believe that I
learned a great deal this semester. I will outline this for each assignment individually on the introductory pages for each
assignment. However, here I would just like to discuss this in general. I feel that the discussion topics were great and did
spark my interest in the topic, but I feel that it can be hard to have a conversation in depth with yourself. Or just one
other person. Maybe two. It seemed like there were far fewer people getting into the conversation we were having then were
enrolled in the class. I know that this is usually a problem even in on campus classes, but I guess it just shows up worse
in the discussion boards. Just talking with the people that did post was beneficial to me. I enjoy discussing my experiences
and it was great to hear the variety of experiences that others had as well.
All of this is just to
introduce to you (drum roll please….) the writing portfolio of Cassandra Anne Shott! I will let you read through it
first before I bombard you with the grade that I feel I should get. Just sit back, relax and enjoy the tour of my development.
Thank
you very much for helping me to find my voice,
Cassie
